Since 2014, the seat of the Landtag Brandenburg has been located in the Landtag building at Potsdam’s Alter Markt. The exterior design of the new building is based on the early baroque city palace of the Prussian kings, which – heavily damaged in the Second World War – stood on the same site until 1960. Inside, the building meets all the functional requirements of contemporary parliamentary business. Newly created stairways and lifts, illuminated by generous light spaces, provide access to the plenary hall, lobby and Presiding Committee suite on the first floor. The usable floor space of the building, including the underground car park, is around 19,000 square metres. In total, it houses 375 offices. In the foyer of the Landtag building, continuously changing exhibitions show the history of Brandenburg as a Land, as well as its cultural and parliamentary history. In addition, in the framework of cooperation with the Land museums, Brandenburg art associations or collections, annually changing exhibitions of contemporary art are presented in the south wing.

Various publications, events and the website of the Landtag provide continuous information on the work of the Land parliament. These can be obtained using the order form on the Landtag website or at the information counter in the foyer. The Visitors’ Service has developed a range of individual programme offers that give groups and individual visitors a comprehensive picture of how Brandenburg’s parliament works. On plenary days, the visitors’ programme includes participation in the parliamentary session and discussions with MPs. The Landtag also offers specially designed educational programmes for youths which are aimed specifically at bringing young people closer to politics and explaining everyday parliamentary life.
